Raeford Richard Macon

Raeford Richard Macon, 97, a life-long resident of Randolph County, died July 11, 2016 following a period of declining health. A Quaker service of remembrance will be held on July 15, 2016 at 2:00 at the Asheboro Friends Meeting, Asheboro, NC conducted by the Reverends David Millikan and Pat Thames. Visitation will be held in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. A graveside service will be held at Holly Spring Friends Meeting in Ramseur, North Carolina at 11:00 am on the morning of the service. Born December 16, 1918, in the Holly Spring Community in Randolph County, Raeford Macon was the son of the late Rufus Edgar (R.E.) Macon and the late Laura Bingham Macon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Hodgin Macon. Survivors are daughter, Clarajo Macon Pleasants and her husband, George William (Bill) Pleasants of Jamestown, NC; son, Dexter Stephen Macon and his wife Beverly Lindsay Macon of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Colonel William Clarke Pleasants and his wife Michelle Slack Pleasants of Omaha, Nebraska, James (Jim) Pleasants of Los Angeles, CA and Jamestown, NC; and the late Virginia Lane Pleasants; Katherine (Kate) Lindsay Breck of Charleston, SC and her husband, Michael P. Breck; and Mary Allison (Mally) Lindsay Tucker of Greenville, SC and her husband, Frank T. Tucker. Great grandchildren include: Ashton Lee Pleasants, Riley Noelle Pleasants, Salem Clarke Pleasants and Colby Jose Pleasants of Omaha, Nebraska and Benjamin Isaac Breck of Charleston, SC.
