On December 24, 2009, Rachel Carol Garner Leach, age 58, of 119 Lisbon Rd., Asheboro went home to be with the Lord after a 19 month battle with cancer. Mrs. Leach was a native of Randolph County and a 1973 graduate of Appalachian State University. She was a teacher for the Randolph County School System for over 30 years. She taught at Randleman Elementary, Seagrove Elementary and Southwest Randolph Middle School. Rachel was a member of Asbury Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School. After retirement, she opened Victoria's Basket & Gifts and was involved with the Asheboro Randolph Chamber of Commerce. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Mrs. Leach was preceded in death by her father; Henry Marvin Garner, Jr. She is survived by her husband: Don Leach of the home, two sons: Chris Leach and his wife, Stacy of Charlotte, NC, Richard Leach and his wife, Bethany of Charlotte, NC, mother; Clara Hoover and her husband, Wiley of Seagrove, two sister: Becky Milks and her husband, Junior of Seagrove, NC and Rhonda Glass of Asheboro, NC, grandchildren, Connor and Corey Leach both of Charlotte, NC. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 27, 2009 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday, December 27, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Asbury Baptist Church, 395 Asbury Church Rd., Seagrove, NC with Rev. Josh Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery.
