Rachel Louise Trogdon Lanier, age 86 of Asheboro, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro. Mrs. Lanier was born March 13, 1927 in Randolph County, the daughter of Joseph Northern and Maisy Lassiter Trogdon. She was a homemaker and worked for Asheboro City Schools part-time in the cafeteria. She attended Rock Hill Primitive Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Henry Clinton Lanier, and great-grandson, Matthew Scott Lanier. She is survived by her son, William N. Lanier and his wife Trudy of Asheboro, NC; grandsons and their wives, Bradley and Kristen Lanier of Charlotte, NC, Jeremy and Sarah Lanier of Asheboro, NC; great-grandsons, William and Weston Lanier of Charlotte, NC; and brothers Paul Trogdon and wife Jean Carol and twin brother Ray Trogdon and wife Joyce all of Asheboro, NC. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. The funeral will be held Friday at 11:00 am at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Jimmy Gray and Elder Cleo Robertson. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 408 North Eugene Street, Greensboro, NC 27401 or the Randolph County Partnership for Children, 349 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27203.
