Rachel Lewis Fitzpatrick

Rachel Lewis Fitzpatrick, age 87, formerly of 117 S. Main St., Asheboro, NC, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 7, 2008 at 2:00 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Ave., Asheboro with the Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a native of Middlesex, NC and was a homemaker. She graduated from Meredith College with a degree in chemistry and did her graduate work at Duke and Wake Forest Universities. Mrs. Fitzpatrick went on to do cancer research at the Medical College of Virginia where she met and later married her late husband, Dr. Hugh Fitzpatrick. She was a member and former elder and deacon of First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Hugh E. and Donna Fitzpatrick of Raleigh, NC, Stuart L. and Kay Fitzpatrick of Greensboro, NC; daughters and sons-in-law, Julia and George Eliades of Richmond, VA, Anne and Bruce Chadwick of Greenville, NC; grandchildren, Anna Fitzpatrick, Elizabeth Fitzpatrick, Katherine Fitzpatrick; Stuart Eliades, Cameron Fitzpatrick, Dean Eliades, and Payton Chadwick ; brother-in-law, Jake Wright, Jr. of Middlesex, NC.
