Robert "R. D." Jarrett, age 74, of 601 Dixon Ave.,Asheboro died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. Mr. Jarrett was born October 16, 1933 in Liberty, NC.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Balfour Baptist Church, 1644 North Fayetteville Street in Asheboro with Rev. Tim Lowry and Rev. Tommy Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park where full military honors will be provided by the Fort Bragg Honor Guard Squad.
Mr. Jarrett was a native of Randolph County and a member of Balfour Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, R.A. Leader and taught youth Sunday school. He was a little league coach and a volunteer fireman with the City of Asheboro. Mr. Jarrett was retired from the US Army, National Guard and Army reserve after 37 years of service and also retired from Black and Decker/G.E. after 40+ years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel Edgar and Laura Frazier Jarrrett.
He is survived by his wife, Billie Bristow Jarrett; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Joe Hobson of Asheboro, son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Toy Jarrett of Asheboro; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Peggy Jarrett of Asheboro; half sister, Kathryn Deaton of Mooresville; grandchildren: Sarah Beth and Kathryn Hobson, Rebekah, Corbin and Cade Jarrett all of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 16, 2008 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro.
