Preston Elliot Strickland

Preston Elliot Strickland, age 41, of Asheboro died Friday, May 28, 2010 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro due to a work related accident. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at 11:00 am at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Connie Weaver and Rev. Ed Arroyo officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Preston was a native of Randolph County and a graduate of Asheboro High School. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Preston loved fishing and was an avid relic hunter who used his metal detector to locate and save historical relics. He was a member of the Coastal Conservation Association and Ducks Unlimited. He is survived by his wife, Keri Yahnker Strickland; daughter, Lori Strickland of the home; son, Nathan Strickland of the home; parents, Kent and Judy Strickland of Asheboro; brother, Barry Strickland of Greensboro; mother and father-in-law, Ed and Lee Yahnker of Goldsboro;. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made in his honor to the charity of donor's choice.
