Polly Johnson

Pomerene "Polly" Adkins Johnson, age 88, of Asheboro died Monday, August 29, 2011 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church, with Dr. John S. Rogers and Colonel Gary Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born on June 1, 1923 in Hayesville, NC to Sam and Martha Hendrix Adkins. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro. Mrs. Johnson was formerly employed with North American Aviation in Columbus, OH, Asheboro Credit Bureau, Stedman Corporation, Sears Department Store and Dillard's Department Store. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, William Johnson, brother, Jim Adkins, sisters, Jessie Mae Sieck, Anna D. Roberts and step-sister, Naomi Beal Andrews. She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Carol Rose of the home; grandchildren, Joseph W. Johnson of Asheboro, Krystal Scoggins of Archdale, Tina Hayes of Randleman; 4 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 6:30-8:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
