Phyllis Howell Cooper, age 68, of 816 Danwood Street, Asheboro died Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.Mrs. Cooper was born March 20, 1941 in Randolph County NC the daughter of the late Clinton Claude and the late Berta Pugh Meigs Howell. Mrs. Cooper was a graduate of Asheboro High School and was retired from Randolph Hospital as manager of the coffee shop. She was a member of West Bend UMC. Mrs. Cooper was a loving wife, mother, "Maw Maw", and friend to many. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, and reading. She also enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing with her devoted and loving husband. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Robert (Bob) Howell and James Howell and father-in-law, Harry P. Cooper.She is survived by her husband, Harry Cooper; daughters, Lorie C. Deese and her husband Mickey of Pageland, SC, Martha C. Murray and her husband James of Randleman; son, Jeffrey Cooper and his wife Karen of Asheboro; grandchildren, Joshua Williams, David Williams, Myla Murray, Tristan Murray; great grandson, Whyatt Williams; sisters, Virginia Cooper of Asheboro, Sue King of Kure Beach; brother, John Howell of High Point, mother in law, Ella Mae Cooper.The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to service from 12:30 - 2:00 PM at West Bend United Methodist Church, 1080 Albemarle Road, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM. in the church with Rev. Larry Moore, Rev. Drew McIntyre and Rev. Jeff Harlowe officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family would like to thank Hospice of Randolph and especially Tonia Pritchard, Wendy Medley and Michelle Pendleton for the excellent care they provided.
