Peter James Albani, age 84, of Asheboro passed away on June 11, 2024 at Randolph Hospital.
Mr. Albani was born in Boston and lived in Massachusetts where he was a graduate of Westwood High School in Westwood, Massachusetts. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. Peter moved to Florida in 1960 and then to North Carolina in 2005. Peter owned and operated Airsonic Components and was instrumental in the development of the SR-71 Blackbird. In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his son, Gary Albani, and sisters, Martha Ambrose, Kathy Williams, and Patricia Klisus. Peter was a soft-spoken, kind-hearted, likable, people person. He loved ice cream, playing golf, the beach, and going to the YMCA.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Janet Concree Albani; son, Greg Albani of Jupiter, FL; stepson, Barry Richards (Leslie) of Randleman; step daughter, Tammy Richards of Santa Barbara, CA; grandchildren, Ashley Albani (Carlos Maeda), Jessica Evans (Bobby), Kendra O’Neill (Kevin), Allie Richards, and Jay Richards; great grandchildren, Jacob, Addison, and 1 on the way; and his faithful feline companion, Appy.
A celebration of Peter’s life will be held at a later date.
