Pete Matthews

Vivian Dennis "Pete" Matthews, age 91, of 305 E. Central Ave., Asheboro died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 12, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Tony Sedberry officiating. Burial with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. Mr. Matthews was a native of Rockingham County and an Army veteran of WWII having received the Bronze Star and numerous other medals. He attended Calvary United Methodist Church and was retired from Richard Gray Hosiery with 25 years of service. Mr. Matthews was preceded in death by his wife, Alva Pauline Matthews. He is survived by his sons, Larry Matthews of the home, Michael Matthews of Burlington; daughter, Carol Potts of Asheboro; grandchildren, Regan Hinson, Wendy Hoge, Samantha Matthews; 4 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 - 3:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
