Peggy Killian

Peggy Carroll Killian, age 77, of Asheboro died Sunday, July 2, 2017 at her home.

Peggy was born December 1, 1939 to Isabel and Norwood Carroll in Ilo Ilo, Philippines. Upon returning to the states she was raised in Durham, North Carolina and was a member of Duke Memorial Methodist Church.  She was an active Girl Scout where she ultimately received the highest award in Girl Scouting, then called First Class. (It in now called the Gold Award).Upon graduation she attended UNC Chapel Hill in the first class of freshman Physical Therapy students where she served as a class officer for the General College. After graduation she married Harry W. Killian and moved to Asheboro, NC where she continued her involvement with scouts and attended First United Methodist Church. She continued her Physical Therapy work in Randolph County home health for 43 years. She and Susan McCrary began the first Girl Scout troop for our First United Methodist Church.

Peggy is survived by her husband Harry W. Killian of Asheboro; daughter, Christie Luckenbach and husband Eric of Asheboro; son, Matthew Killian and wife Julie of Pittsboro; brothers, Billy Carroll and wife Lean of Seattle, WA, Lee Carroll of Asheboro; four grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 1:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Lynda Ferguson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Burial will be in New Hope Memorial Gardens.
