Daisy Pearl Evans Huffman, age 76, formerly of Candor and Asheboro, died Thursday, October 16, 2014 at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center, Trinity.
Ms. Huffman was born January 27, 1938 the daughter of Samuel and Ollie Poteat Evans. Clifford Evans, step-father, helped raise her after the early death of her father.
Pearl was a native of Marion, NC and a retired career nurse. She worked for many years in the ICU of Montgomery Memorial Hospital. The last ten years of her career were spent lovingly caring for the elderly in several facilities in Moore County. She was a member of Candor Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Pearl is preceded in death by her former husband, Luther Huffman and siblings: Alan Evans, Doyle Evans, Helen Curtis and Betty Dobson.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Foster Street Wesleyan Church, 214 Foster St., Asheboro, NC with Rev. Charles Moses officiating.
She is survived by two daughters and their husbands: Daffie H. and Tim Garris of Asheboro, NC; Jerri H. and Dan Miller of Suwanee, GA; one son and his wife: Luke and Linda Huffman of Seattle, WA; grandson and his wife: Phillip Matthews and Candace; granddaughter and her husband: Savannah and Adrean Alire; great grandchildren: Griffin, Sawyer and Adrean; sisters: Jean Pyatt, Gladys Darkus; two brothers: Raymond and Jerry Evans and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Hospice of Randolph County for the kind and gentle care given to Pearl over the last months. During Pearl's 12 year battle with Alzheimer's she was blessed with many wonderful caregivers that cared for her as she had cared for so many in the past. The family is grateful to each and every one.
