Pearl Harvell Furr of Troy, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
Mrs. Furr was born on December 23, 1925 in Guilford County to Jesse Lee and Lena Kinney Harvell.
Mrs. Furr had been an active, faithful, life-long member of her beloved Mt. Carmel, having taught Sunday School for over 50 years and was the last surviving charter member of the Mt. Carmel Women's Missionary Union formed in 1944.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Bishop Morrow Furr; brothers, Oliver Harvell, Henry Lee Harvell and Percy Harvell; sisters, Opal Sisk and Blennie Fairrington.
She is survived by her children: Larry (Jackie) Furr of Denton, Joyce (Butch) McIntyre of Troy, Debra (Michael) Thompson of Troy, and Bobby (Elizabeth) Furr of Albemarle; her siblings: Winfred Harvell of Mt. Gilead, Ruby Britt of Troy, Grace Lovin of Conway, SC, and Ruth Yates of Alabama; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 23, 2015 from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N Main St., Troy; other times at the home of Joyce and Butch McIntyre, 279 Alexander Rd., Troy. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Holmes and the Rev. Grady Blakely officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
