Martha Pauline "Polly" Morgan Powers, age 92, of 595 Morton Ave., Asheboro died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neil Crowell officiating. Burial will follow in the New Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Powers was born in Rowan County on October 12, 1919 to Patterson Monroe and Martha Olivia Dillon Cooper. She was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Asheboro. She played piano for her church and the Cooper Family Singers. Polly was retired from General Electric and, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her husbands, James Edward Morgan and Charlie Artie Powers.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Williamson and her husband Johnny of Biscoe; stepsons, Charles Powers and his wife Robin of Denton, Billy Powers and his wife Evelyn of Thomasville; grandsons, Travis Clifton Hayes of Biscoe, Chadrick Franklin Ireland and his wife Laura Ann Cox Ireland of Ramseur, Lucas Edward Williamson of Biscoe; step granddaughter, Cinthya Williamson Dunlap and her husband Jason of Seagrove; great grandson, Dale Casper Ireland of Ramseur; great granddaughter, Emma Anne Ireland of Ramseur; step great granddaughters, Lauren Marie Dunlap of Seagrove, Brook Nichole Dunlap of Seagrove; brother, Hubert Cooper and his wife Mildred of Asheboro; and sister, Mae Cooper Joyce of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 from 6 to 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home of Hubert & Mildred Cooper, 155 Lexington Rd., Asheboro.
