Paul Odell Whitaker

Paul Odell Whitaker, age 91, of 7705 Hwy. 220 N., Randleman died Friday, January 16, 2009 at his home. Mr. Whitaker was a lifelong member of Worthville United Methodist Church and retired from Lorillard Tobacco Company in 1980. He enjoyed volunteer work and delivering "Meals on Wheels" and helping family members. Mr. Whitaker is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Hudson Whitaker, parents, H.B. and Della Butcher Whitaker, brothers, Walt, Bill Earl and Nelson Whitaker and sister Alma King. Special "Thanks" to the following caregivers: Sandra Callahan, Jill Hardway, Robin Redding and Faye Langley. He is survived by son, Paul Wayne Whitaker and his wife, Connie Ward Whitaker of Randleman; son, Gary Lee Whitaker and his wife, Donna Steed Whitaker of Randleman; grandchildren, Chad Whitaker; Michelle Beck; Amy Stevens; Scott Whitaker; Sherry Nance; and Shelly Barnes; 7 great grandchildren; sisters: Myrtle Nance and Bertha Kirkman both of Asheboro, and brother: Thurman Whitaker of Asheboro.The family will receive friends Sunday, January 18, 2009 from 2:00-3:30 PM. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Pugh Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Quate officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
