Paul Albright Pipkin, Sr., age 88, of 818 Albemarle Rd., Troy died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Autumn Care Nursing & Rehabilitation, Biscoe.
Mr. Pipkin was born May 6, 1926 at Morven, NC, the son of Edward Ashby and Dora Nicholson Pipkin.
He was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. He retired from the NC Department of Transportation with 30 years of service and was a US Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Pipkin was a life-time member of the American Legion Post #159. He loved flying remote controlled airplanes and working with his hands.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Edward Ashby Pipkin, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years: Lee Ella Morris Pipkin of the home; one daughter: Linda P Withers of Rock Hill, SC; one son: Paul A Pipkin, Jr. and wife, Ava Floyd Pipkin of Troy; one granddaughter: April Pipkin Greene of Troy; one grandson: Mark Lee Pipkin of Troy; 6 great-grandchildren: Kimberly Pipkin, Chris Pipkin, Avery Pipkin, Maggie Pipkin, John Paul Greene and Zachary Greene.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 26, 2014 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy, NC; other times at the home. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 pm at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 819 Mt. Carmel Church Road, Troy with Rev. Rodney Holmes and Rev. Grady Blakely officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard, will be in Southside Cemetery, Troy.
