Paul Odell Parris, age 84, of 6197 Old Liberty Rd., Franklinville died Monday, May 25, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Grays Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Dale Hylton and Rev. Doug Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Parris was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was retired from Klopman Mills and was a member of Grays Chapel United Methodist Church. Paul was a charter member of the Climax Volunteer Fire Department Station #42, a member of VFW Post 9418 and a charter member of the Grays Chapel Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Effie Johnson Parris, and his brothers, 1st Lt. Harold Parris and J.C. Parris. He is survived by his wife, Christine L. Parris; daughters, Vivian Parris White and her husband Jim, Teresa Parris Spivey and her husband Kirk; grandchildren, Beth McNease Embry and her husband Barron, Brad McNease, Ashley White Fike and her husband Ryhan, Robbie White, Meghan Spivey, Adam Spivey, and great grandson, Baden Embry. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to Climax Volunteer Fire Department Station #42, c/o Gary McGee, P.O. Box 51, Climax, NC 27233. The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses in PCU at Randolph Hospital, and to Rhonda, Kathy, and Debbie at Home Health.
