Patrick F. McCarthy, age 75, of Asheboro North Carolina, passed away on April 9, 2010, after a sudden illness.
Patrick was born on October 27, 1934, to Daniel J. and Loretto McCarthy in Baltimore Maryland. Patrick was one of seven children in this loving Irish family. Patrick graduated from Indiana High School in Indiana Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor of Education degree from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Patrick was married to Sandra L McCarthy for 52 years.
Patrick was a decorated officer in the United States Army, with a career that spanned 22 years and included both overseas assignments and two tours of duty in Vietnam. After family, Patrick's passion was golf, and he enjoyed this pastime throughout his retirement years. Patrick was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed his years as a parishioner of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church in Asheboro.
He is survived by his wife Sandra L McCarthy of Asheboro, his three children: Pat McCarthy and wife Chris, of Cary, NC; John McCarthy and wife Michele Faber of Locust Grove, VA; and Ka'Lynn Ravel and husband Dave of Jamestown, NC, and his four grandchildren Brendan McCarthy, Linsie Ravel, Caitlin McCarthy, and MariLu Ravel.
A rosary will be said at the Pugh Funeral Home at 3:30PM on Sunday, April 11. A viewing will be held for friends and neighbors from 6:00 - 8:00PM on Sunday, April 11, also at the Pugh Funeral Home. The funeral will take place on Tuesday in Taneytown MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the building fund of Saint Joseph's Catholic Church 512 W. Wainman Ave., Asheboro, NC 27203.
