Patricia H. Skeen

Mary Patricia Hughes Skeen, age 84, of Asheboro died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Randolph Hospice House.

Mrs. Skeen was born September 13, 1932 in Randolph County to Kathleen and Clarence Hughes, Jr. She was a retired librarian who had worked for Forsyth, Wilkes and Yadkin Counties. Mrs. Skeen moved back to Asheboro in 1997. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She loved her flower garden, going to musicals and reading to children, especially on the "magic carpet". Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life and she was affectionately known as "Granny". In addition to her parents, Mrs. Skeen was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Skeen and brother, David Hughes.

She is survived by her daughters, Carla Higgins and husband Thomas of Asheboro, Kathleen Eller and husband Larry of Purlear, Barbara Caudill and husband Joey of Wilkesboro; sons, Eddie Skeen of Millers Creek, Joel Skeen and wife Renee of Millers Creek; Bruce Skeen and wife Annette of Salisbury, MD; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 28, 2017 from 12:30 - 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Tim Pheagin, Rev. Mark Hall and Phillip Eller officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
