Pastor Leslie Newlin Winslow, age 93, of Asheboro, died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at North Pointe Assisted Living Community.
Pastor Winslow was born in Perquimans County, NC on May 23, 1922 to Lucious and Mary Winslow. He was a graduate of Peabody College (now Vanderbilt University) and Trevecca University, both in Nashville, TN. He was a pastor in North Carolina with the Society of Friends for over 60 years. In addition to his parents, Pastor Winslow was preceded in death by his wife Ruby S. Winslow.
He is survived by his son, Worth Winslow and wife Nada of Asheboro; daughter, Mary Wilhoit and husband Robert of Asheboro; grandchildren, Harrison Stickle and wife Amanda of Wake Forest, Robert Stickle and wife Melissa of Randleman, Sarah Stickle of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Carter and Caleb Stickle both of Randleman, Avery and Landon Stickle both of Wake Forest; and sister, Reby W. Stallings of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 2:30-3:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center of Central United Methodist Church, 300 South Main Street, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Terry L. Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Spring Friends Meeting Cemetery.
