Pamela Jane Wheeler

Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Pamela Jane Wheeler of Asheboro, North Carolina passed away at her home on October 17, 2010. Pamela was born September 22, 1949 to Robert and Jane Marshall in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. She graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1967, and attended Eastern Michigan University where she majored in elementary education. Born and raised in Grosse Pointe, Michigan and was very active in a variety of community organizations. She was a member of the Junior League of Detroit, The Hill Residents Association, Gowanie Golf Club, the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, and the L'Arbre Croche Club. Since moving to Asheboro in 2007 Pam was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Asheboro. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Gregory A. Wheeler, daughter Amy M. (Lt.Col. Boyd) Hodges, son Jack M., mother Jane Swineford, stepfather Chuck Swineford, stepmother Emilie Marshall, grandchildren: Paige, Meghan, Gregory, and Matthew Hodges. She was predeceased by her father Robert J. Marshall. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 23 at First Presbyterian Church of Asheboro located at 420 West Walker Avenue Asheboro, North Carolina. A visitation will be held the hour prior to the service at the same location. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to either the Community Hospice, 147 MacArthur Street, Asheboro, NC 27203, or Christians United Outreach Center, 135 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC 27203.
