Oscar Albert Sowers, 97, of Asheboro died on Thursday, September 25, 2014.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Drew McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in the West Bend United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Thomasville, the son of Albert and Elena Mae Beck Sowers. From 1924-1936 Oscar was a resident at Mills Home Orphanage in Thomasville where he was taught printing. He remained a printer all of his life. In addition to his parents, Oscar was preceded in death by his wife Mildred Robbins Sowers and sister and brothers Ruby Workman, and Ervin, George, Ross and Roy Sowers.
Surviving are his daughter Debbie Williams and husband Russ of Lumberton, grandchildren Samuel Williams and wife Krystle of Winterville and Mary-Elena Preisser and husband Eddie of Hope Mills, 2 great grandchildren, Isaiah and Isabel Williams and nieces and nephews that he loved.
The family would like to thank the generous and patient caregivers who assisted him over the years.
The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro on Friday, September 26, 2014 from 6:30-8:00 pm.
