Ora Blake Atkins

Mrs. Ora Blake Atkins, age 97, of 3001 Love Joy Rd, Troy died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Autumn Care of Biscoe, N.C.Mrs. Atkins was born June 2, 1912 in Troy, NC the daughter of James Frank and Lola Frances (Merrit) Blake. She was a member of Love Joy United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Capel Rug Mill. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ray Atkins. She is survived by four sons: Bobby Ray Atkins and wife, Sara of Troy, John Lewis Atkins and wife, Edith of Troy, Doyle Mitchell Atkins and wife, Faye of Troy, Royce Atkins and wife, Joyce of Biscoe; three sisters: Ruby B. Gillis, Rachel B. Vuncannon and Frances B. Pigford all of Troy; grandchildren: Sherron A. Harris, Ronda A. Haywood, Cynthia A. Ziccarelli , Dereck Atkins, all of Troy, John Charles Atkins and Jeff Atkins of Troy, Dale Atkins and Leigh A. Shank of Asheboro, Lynne A. Davis and Tina Pike of Troy, Greg Atkins of Greensboro, David Atkins of Biscoe; step-grandchild: Crystal; 15 great-grandchildren and 1step-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Pearl Blake of Denton. The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 7-9 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at Love Joy United Methodist Church, Substation Rd., Troy with Rev. Tommy Haynes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
