Oliver Green, age 69, of Jackson Springs passed away on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the VA Medical Center in Durham.
Mr. Green was born in Tampa, FL on May 26, 1947 to Oliver Blue and Bertha Green. Oliver served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was the owner/operator of Green Tree Farm. In addition to his parents, Oliver was preceded in death by 5 sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Gainey Green, daughters, Barbara A. Young of Troy, Lisa Green of Jackson Springs, and Brianna Green of Jackson Springs; sons, James Edward Young of Chapel Hill, Benjamin Young of Tampa, FL, and Jordan Green of Jackson Springs; 6 grandchildren; sister, Rosetta G. Whitaker of Tampa, FL; brother, Wallace G. Blue of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home with Pastor Gene Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the Salisbury National Cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
