Odell Brown Cagle, age 89, of Asheboro died Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at Sandy Ridge Assisted Living, Candor.
Mr. Cagle was born April 18, 1925 in Randolph County to Erastus and Bertha Brown Cagle. He grew up in the Grantville area near Union Grove Christian Church. Mr. Cagle was the owner/operator of Cagle Aluminum for 34 years and was a member of Brower's Chapel United Methodist Church. He enjoyed wood working, making many wooden bowls and spending time with his host of friends. Every summer, Mr. Cagle would grow a large garden and was often found at Tractor Supply selling his produce and meeting new people. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cagle was preceded in death by his brother, Everette Lee Cagle, sisters, Betty Jean Hill and Maxine Bean; son-in-law, Jim Fowlkes.
He is survived by his wife, Nita McDowell Cagle; daughters, Dianne Fowlkes of Charlotte, Kay Cooley and husband Bill of Jackson, NC; grandchildren, Kim Grant and husband John, Will Cooley, Seth Cooley, Anna Cooley Lynch and husband Michael; great grandchildren, Jack, Carter and Emma Cooley, Allison and Liam Grant; sister, Anna Lewis Coble of Asheboro; and brother, Samuel T. Cagle of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Friday, September 19, 2014 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Brower's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Sypole and Rev. David Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
