Norman Cornelius Whitley, age 88, of 179 Bennett Farm Rd, Asheboro died Saturday, August 1, 2009 at his home. Mr. Whitley was a native of Stanly County and an Army veteran of WWII. He lived in Bossier, LA for 41 years where he was a member of Bellevue Road Baptist Church and retired from Smith Brothers in LA. He moved back to Randolph County in 1994 and was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Whitley was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Whitley; parents, William Cornelius and Flora Crowell Whitley; sisters, Edna Simpson and Alma Morgan; brother, Hubert Whitley. He is survived by sisters: Jerri Whitley Walker of Asheboro, NC, Jennie Bell Whitley Walker of Seagrove, NC The family will receive friends Sunday, August 2, 2009 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Monday, August 3, 2009 at 2:00 PM. at Maple Springs Baptist Church, 6012 Maple Springs Rd., Seagrove with Rev. Howard McNeill and Rev. Wayne VunCannon officiating. Graveside Service will be in Canton Baptist Church Cemetery, Albemarle on Monday at 4:30 pm. Memorials may be made to Hospice Of Randolph, P.O.
