Nolan Eugene Burton

Nolan Eugene Burton, age 88, of Asheboro died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. A private service will be held. Mr. Burton was a native of Decatur, IL. Nolan was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force, serving in WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was retired from General Electric and Black & Decker where he worked in Cost Accounting. Nolan was dependable, funny, and enjoyed life. He was a thoughtful, genuine, caring man, and a devoted husband. The joy of his life was playing tennis. He is survived by his wife, Delores Poole Burton; daughters, Terrie Linker and her husband Lee of Cary, Lorie Durham of Fuquay-Varina; grandchildren, Katelyn Linker and Adam Linker both of Cary, Lauren Durham and Emily Durham both of Fuquay-Varina; cousins, Loyd Hawkey and his wife Claudette of Spring Hill, FL, Lynn Hawkey and his wife Marie of Troy, MO; and sister-in-law, Hilda Pickett and her husband Larry of Asheboro. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the NC Zoological Society, 4403 Zoo Parkway, Asheboro, NC 27205. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Burton family.
