Nixon Sykes

Joseph "Nixon" Sykes, age 91, of 215 Hampton Rd., Asheboro died Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at his home. Mr. Sykes was born October 16, 1921 in Randolph County to John Austin and Ethel Mae Luther Sykes. He was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church and was retired from Randolph Mills in Franklinville. He is survived by his wife, Juanita B. Sykes; daughters, Joanna Sykes of Asheboro, Linda Williams and her husband Benny of Asheboro, Ginger Lewis and her husband Brian of Asheboro; grandchildren, Derrick Williams of Davis, CA, Brandon Williams, Kelly Hamlett and Wendy Houston all of Asheboro; great grandchildren, Aaron, Cayden and Nolan; sisters, Onnie Mae Burrow of Biloxi, MS, Louise Payne of Asheboro. The family will receive friends Friday, November 16, 2012 from 12:30-1:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A graveside service will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at Randolph Memorial Park with Rev. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
