Neta Trogdon Cox Bezalla, 91, of Cross Road Retirement Community died December 8, 2008. A service celebrating her life will be held at 12 Noon Friday, December 12 at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. The Reverend Wyatt Hoogkamp will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Neta was born in Randolph County NC on November 14, 1917. She was the daughter of the late Austin C. and Lillie Autry Trogdon.She graduated from Seagrove High School with the class of 1934. In October 1937 she married Emmette G. Cox. A few months later she joined him on his new Military assignment in Hawaii where their son was born. Later they all transferred to the Philippines. Upon the outbreak of the War she and her son returned to the states in 1940. Her husband Emmette died in a Japanese POW camp in 1944. Upon returning to the States in 1940, being a Military wife, she pursued work to benefit the War. She attended a Radio electronics school taught at Ellerbe Springs NC and from there she went to Fort Monmouth NJ and attended The Civilian Training Section Signal Corps General Development School. After graduating she was employed by the Signal Corp as an instructor. Later she moved to Baltimore and worked for Westinghouse on Military Radar equipment.In 1946, and after the war effort, she married Michael Bezalla who preceded her in death in 1992. Upon returning to North Carolina she was employed at General Electric, Asheboro as an Electronic Test and Repair Technician.She was always busy with crafts and she attended classes in painting and basket weaving. Later she taught basket weaving for Randolph and Montgomery Community College.She attended High Pine Wesleyan Church for many years while health permitted. She later attended Hilltop Baptist Church near the Cross Road Retirement Community.She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and brother, Harlan Trogdon. She is survived by her son, Edwin G. Cox and wife Reba of Jamestown NC; granddaughter Lillie Cox of Greensboro NC; Grandson, Emmette Cox of Fuquay-Varina NC and brother Walon D. Trogdon of Asheboro, NC.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday December 11, 2008 and one hour prior to the service at the Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro on Friday December 12th.Memorials may be made to the Cross Road Retirement Community, 1302 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, NC 27205.
