Nellie Luther Miller

Nellie Alene Luther Miller, age 97, of Asheboro passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at Cross Road Retirement Community. Mrs. Miller was born in Asheboro on December 12, 1920 to William Rufus and Fleta Alice Lucas Luther. She retired from the textile industry with over 40 years of service. Nellie was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dalton Miller, sister, Mamie Luther, and brothers, Wade, Wayne, Howard, and Albert Luther. Nellie loved gardening, canning, and cooking, especially homemade cornbread and candied yams. She enjoyed going to the beach, and the car races at Caraway Speedway. She is survived by her daughter, Jone Miller Hayes and husband Linnie of Asheboro; granddaughters, Hannah Hayes of Asheboro and Heather Hayes Schultz and husband Chris of Asheboro; sister, Ruby Jean Luther of Pisgah; and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pisgah United Methodist Church, 5594 Pisgah Covered Bridge Rd., Asheboro, NC 27205 or Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
