Nellie Pearl Harris

Nellie Pearl Redding Harris, age 95, of Sophia went home to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Beacon Place, Greensboro.

Mrs. Harris was born September 19, 1922 the daughter of Floyd and Esther Redding.

Nellie was a native of Randolph County and a graduate of Randleman High School. She was a member of South Plainfield Friends where she took an active role by serving her Lord. Nellie spent many years as a homemaker and owned and operated Harris Nursery and Kindergarden for many years in Greensboro before retiring to Randolph County. In addition to her parents, Nellie is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Harris, Sr., brothers Robert and Fred Redding, sister Notre Hollingworth and daughter-in-law Kathy Harris.

She is survived by her three children: Vickie Harris Norman and husband Jerry, James H, "Chip" Harris, Jr. and Charles "Chuck" Harris and wife Debbi all of Sophia; 9 grandchildren, Erin Scoggins, Jarod Norman, James Harris, Josh Harris, April Edwards, Jon Harris, Janna Harris, Keevy Harris and Charity McDaris; 16 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 30, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 AM at South Plainfield Friends Meeting, 4033 Plainfield Road, Sophia, NC. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with Rev. Hugh Spaulding officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
