Neal Wayne Lewis Jr passed away on the 29th of October in Greensboro NC following a heart attack. Neal (Wayne to some) was born in Lee County, Pennington Gap, Virginia, He was the son of Neal Wayne Sr, and Ruby Orr Lewis, and is survived by his loving partner Irene Chavis of 45+ years, his daughter Barbara Anne Lewis Faison, two brothers, John and Jack Lewis and his only granddaughter Rachel Jean Faison. Neal is also survived by his 2 bonus children, Elaine O’Brien and Johnny Chavis, 5 bonus Grandchildren and 16 bonus Great Grandchildren who lovingly called him “Big Daddy”, and several nieces and nephews who filled his life with joy.
Neal graduated from Warwick High School in Newport News Virginia, where he was a talented football player and wrestler. Following graduation, he was drafted into the army.
He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. Following his service, Neal established a long career in the industrial retail area, last working with Harbor Tool in Greensboro NC.
He retired in Randleman, North Carolina to be closer to family.
Neal had always shown a loving interest in the lives of his extended family, asking the most interesting questions and being the best Stepfather and Grandfather he could be.
Neal was a proud Vietnam Veteran who loved his country, his family, country music, and bourbon. He will be missed very much.
At this time, services have not been arranged.
