Nancy Kearns Brown

Nancy Kearns Brown, age 91, of Troy died Monday, December 23, 2013 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst. Nancy was born July 13, 1922 at Ramseur, NC, the daughter of Robert Ivey and Enola Wooley Kearns, Sr. Nancy was a homemaker and a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church for many years where she served as a teacher in the children's department. She loved needle point, line dancing and playing basketball. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers: William Harrison Kearns, Maxton Charles Kearns, Robert Kearns, James H Kearns and sister: Sara Talbert. She is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years: Jack Brown, Sr. of the home; sons: Jackie Brown and wife, Patsy of Mt. Gilead, Tommy Brown of Whispering Pines; one daughter: Trudy B East of Biscoe; three grandchildren: Chris Brown, Amy Honeycutt and Jennifer East; four great-grandchildren: Aaron Byrd, Josh Byrd, Austin James and Abby James; two great-great grandchildren: Emily Byrd and Ethan Byrd; one sister: Ruth K Leach of Greenville, SC and one brother: Don Kearns of High Point The family will receive friends Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 6-8 pm at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N Main St, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Friday at 2:00 pm at Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 N. Russell Street, Troy with the Reverend Dr. Bryan Faggart officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, South Main St., Troy. Memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church, 239 N. Russell St., Troy, NC 27371.
