Myrtle Whitaker Cox Nance, age 92, of 400 Vision Dr., Asheboro took God's hand Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation in, Asheboro.
Mrs. Nance was born in Yadkin County on March 23, 1920 to H.B. and Della Butcher Whitaker. She was formerly employed with Tie-Rite Neckwear and was retired from Ram Tie Makers in Ramseur. Myrtle was a devoted member for more than 70 years of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church. Myrtle was a true matriarch, the center of her families' life. In addition to her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by her husbands, Grady O. Cox and Paul Nance, and siblings: Walt, Bill, Earl, Nelson, Odell, Thurman Whitaker , Alma King and Bertha Kirkman.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Bennett Wicker of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Angela and Lindale Leak and Gregory and Tyra Bennett all of Asheboro, NC; great grandchildren, Erick McDonald, Brandon Leak, and Riley Bennett, Lily Nell Bennett all of Asheboro, NC, and Landon Turnage of Madison, NC.
The family will receive friends on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bruce Dickerson and Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff on 300 hall at Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation and also to the staff of Hospice of Randolph for the special care given to Myrtle.
