Myrtle Faye Marshall

Myrtle Faye Marshall, daughter of the late James Thomas (Tom) and Lena Ruth Harris Marshall, passed away on November 1, 2016 at FirstHealth Hospice House of Pinehurst following an illness. She was 62. She was born in Montgomery County, NC, the ninth of twelve children. Her passing occurred in the autumn season which was her favorite time of the year. Her grandchildren were her shining stars and the loves of her life. Faye graduated from West Montgomery High School in Mt. Gilead, NC. She obtained post-graduate certifications in healthcare and worked briefly as an in home healthcare provider. Faye was a natural caregiver, whether during her home-healthcare occupation, teaching pre-school or just caring for the children of friends and family, as well as her own. She befriended people from all walks of life and could often see goodness in a person when others could not. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son, Jay Alexander Marshall, and a brother, John Thomas Marshall. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons: Lee Jamison Marshall and Ossie Jerel Marshall, both of Troy, NC, and two daughters, Jessica Marshall Burris (Brian) of Troy, NC and Alena Joy Marshall also of Troy, NC. She leaves six grandchildren: Alia Ruth, Jamison Thomas, Jay Alexander, Jr., Lillie Jo, Owen Jerel and Brian David, Jr.; four brothers: Richard Marshall of Baltimore, MD, Bobby Marshall of Biscoe, NC, James Marshall of Edison, NJ, and Daniel Marshall of Woodbridge, VA; six sisters: Darlena Biggers (Samuel) of Falls Church, VA, Nancy Drake of Charlotte, NC, Doris Steele (William) of Mt. Gilead, NC, Ethel Horne (Michael) of Troy, NC, Edith Rector (Clifton) of Lorton, VA and Sharoyn Marshall of Springfield, VA. Faye also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews that were close to her heart. The family will receive friends Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 12:00pm – 1:45pm in the chapel of Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Troy, NC. A Celebration Service of Faye's life will immediately follow at 2:00pm with the Reverend Gary Marshall officiating. Burial services will be private.
