Myrtle Novella Maness

Myrtle Novella Hamilton Maness, age 90, of Star, NC died Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at Cross Road Retirement Community, Asheboro.

Mrs. Maness was born March 28, 1928 at Troy, NC the daughter of the late Arthur Wade Hamilton and the late Hattie Saunders Hamilton.

Mrs. Maness was a very humble lady always caring for people and putting others needs before hers. She loved her church and her church family. She was a homemaker who loved to cook. She was not only talented in the kitchen, but loved to sew, cross-stitch, and crochet.

She is survived by one daughter: Dianne Maness Vuncannon of Star, NC; two sons: Eugene Maness, Jr. and wife Cathy of Star, and Eddie Maness and wife, Donna of Star; grandchildren: Amy Vuncannon, Jimmy Vuncannon and wife, Amy, Danny Vuncannon and wife, Andrea, Sarah Smith, Joseph Maness, and Andrea Ingram and husband, Mike; great-grandchildren: Emily, Timothy, Rachel, and Jacob Vuncannon, Tyler and Layla Smith, Lacey Maness, and Grant and Gavin Ingram; one sister, Frances Russell of Troy. She was predeceased by husband, Joe Maness; son-in-law, Jim Vuncannon; brothers: James Hamilton and Vernon Hamilton; sisters: Dinah Thomas, Lorene Stutts, and Martha Hamilton.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 26, 2018 from 6-8 pm at First Wesleyan Church, 1368 NC Hwy. 134, Troy, NC. A Funeral Service will be held Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 3 pm at First Wesleyan Church, Hwy. 1368 NC Hwy. 134, Troy, NC, with Dr. Edward Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow in Suggs Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 1971 Ether Rd., Star, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Wesleyan Church Building Fund, 1368 NC Hwy. 134, Troy, NC  27371.
