Myrtle Beatrice Gaster

Myrtle Johnson Gaster, (94), of Randleman died Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Randolph Hospital.Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24 at First Wesleyan Church, 125 Tabernacle St., Randleman, NC with the Rev. Don Hurlburt and Alvin Newcomb officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.Born January 20, 1915, Mrs. Gaster was the daughter of Frank O. Johnson and Cora Hudson Johnson. She lived her entire life in Randolph County, where she worked over 50 years at Commonwealth Hoisery Mill. After retirement she spent many hours helping others and donated time to The Randleman Meal Site. Mrs. Gaster was preceded in death by her husband Jamie D. Gaster, four brothers; Jamie, Fletcher, Tom and Robert Johnson; sisters:Louise Johnson Pike and Rosa Johnson Varner.She is survived by sons: Tommy Gaster and his wife, Faye of Ramseur; Don Gaster and his wife, Judy of Archdale; grandchildren, Kim Poteate and her husband, Ken; Kristy Leung and her husband, Andy; Michael Gaster and his wife Sherry; Hallie and Casey Gaster: great grandchildren, Taylor Poteate, Emma and Drew Leung and Michaela Gaster.The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 23 at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC and other times at the home of Don Gaster, 2516 Spencer Rd., Archdale.
