T. Myers Johnson, age 47, of Sophia died unexpectedly Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Myers was the Human Resources Director for the City of Asheboro and a member and former recording clerk of Cedar Square Friends Meeting. He was a graduate of Randleman High School in 1984 and graduate of Wake Forest University in 1988.
Myers' three boys, Ben, Samuel and Henry, were his world. He loved doing everything with them, especially watching Ben play golf, Samuel make his lego creations, and watching Henry play basketball. He was excited to welcome Ben's fiancée, Savannah, into our family.
From a very young age, Myers had a passion for music and loved to sing. He was a member of the choir at Wake Forest and at Cedar Square, and sang with the Good News Quartet.
He had a lifelong love of acting, from playing Pappy Yoakum at Randleman High, to his many roles with Wake Forest University, Livestock Players in Burlington and RSVP Community Theater in Asheboro.
Myers began his public service career at the Internal Revenue Service in Greensboro, and also worked for Guilford County Schools. He was so proud to serve as Human Resources Director for City of Asheboro.
He was a committed member of many organizations during his lifetime, including the New Market Civitans and a board member with RSVP Community Theater. He was a member of the Organization of Municipal Personnel Officers and former president of the Randolph County and North Carolina Chapters of the International Personnel Management Association.
He is the beloved son of the late Jo Ann Myers Johnson.
He is survived by his wife: Melissa Turner Johnson; sons: Benjamin Myers Johnson and fiancée Savannah Rose Allen, Samuel Johnson and Henry Johnson all of the home; father Benjamin Lewis Johnson and his wife Mary Ann; sister: Lou Ann Harmon and her husband Glenn of Myrtle Beach, SC; brother: Kenneth Johnson of Randleman; stepsisters Julie Fogleman and Jennifer Campbell; aunts Pat Myers Angel, Mary Tally, and Rose Inman; a cherished niece and nephews, cousins, friends and coworkers.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 4:00 pm at Cedar Square Friends Meeting, 7546 Harlow Rd., Archdale with Rev. Mike Butler and Rev. Ben Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall.
