Muriel Eugenia Pugh Cox, age 90, of Asheboro died Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Randolph Hospice House. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, 3012 Old NC 49, Asheboro with Rev. Marty Grainger and Rev. Rod Beale officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. Mrs. Cox was born in Franklinville, NC on May 10, 1921 to John and Alice Pugh. She was a founding member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was formerly on the Board of the Randolph Baptist Association. Muriel was retired from the hosiery industry and had volunteered with the Christians United Outreach Center (CUOC) and volunteered with Randolph County Social Services as a Baptist Missionary. In addition to her parents, Muriel was preceded in death by her husband, J.S. "Bud" Cox. She is survived by her son, Marvin Cox and his wife Freda of Cedar Falls, NC; daughter, Martha Faltinowski and her husband Woody of Inverness, FL; daughter, Nancy Snyder and her husband James of Biscoe, NC; son, Roy Cox and his wife Gloria of Randleman, NC; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; brothers, John Pugh, Jr. of Asheboro, NC, David Pugh of Lexington, NC, Adrian Pugh of Asheboro, NC, Randal Pugh of Reidsville, NC, Anthony Pugh of Asheboro, NC, Dwayne Pugh of Orange, VA; special friends, Angie Weeks, Autumn Weeks, Linda Heath, and Darrell And Brenda Johnson. The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 14, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The family would like to give a special thanks to Carolina House and Hospice of Randolph for the care and devotion shown to our mother; also, deep appreciation to the people of Cedar Grove Baptist Church for all the help, support, and prayers. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204-0009.
