Mrs. Mozelle Cooke Corsbie, age 80, of 402 Springwood Rd, Asheboro passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 at the home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 11:00 am at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ, Whitsett, NC with the Rev. Dr. Ken Clapp, Rev. Dale Kennedy, Rev. Lloyd Spencer and Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Church Cemetery. Mrs. Corsbie was born May 14, 1928 in Guilford County, NC. She worked as a secretary at Justice Drug in Greensboro for many years. She was a homemaker and mother. For many years, she was an active member of the First E&R United Church of Christ where she served in many roles including as an Elder. She served on the Board of Directors for the Blowing Rock Assembly Grounds and the Mental Health Association. She also was a volunteer at Our Daily Bread, Mental Health Association, Randolph Hospital, Social Services, and Asheboro Day Care. She was the past recipient of the Outstanding Civic Woman by the Asheboro Civic Women and Volunteer of the Year for Randolph County. She was predeceased by her only grandson Joshua Christopher Reece, parents Naomi Bullock and Arthur Cooke; sisters Bernice Cooke Blair, Gladys Cooke Michaux, Frances Cooke Jones, Peggy Cooke Vaughn, Alice Cooke Kirkman, Lola Cooke Scott and brother Steve Cooke. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, JC Corsbie; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Joanne Corsbie of Asheboro, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Corsbie and Owen Reece of Suffolk, Va.; granddaughters Helen and Maggie Smith, brothers Burton Cooke of Whitsett and Roger Cooke of Greensboro. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at the home. We give thanks to Hospice of Randolph especially Kenneth Temple and Ann Brady, to Home Instead, and to Dr. Christine McCarty and the staff of Randolph Cancer Center for the wonderful care they have given to Mozelle.
