Samuel Milton Henley, age 92, of Asheboro died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro after a long illness.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Schwartz and Rev. Jeff Harlow officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.Mr. Henley was a native of Asheboro, served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and retired from the National Maritime Union. He was formerly employed with Bossong Hosiery. Milton was a member of Charlotte United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ledwell Henley. He is survived by his sons, Stephen Henley and his wife Janet of Asheboro, NC; Phillip Henley and his wife Linda of Asheboro, NC; daughters, Martha H. Conley of Asheboro, NC, Judy H. Surratt of Randleman, NC; Brenda H. Davidson and her husband Jerome of Asheboro, NC; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and sister, Hilda Prefontaine of Greensboro, NC.The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 10, 2009 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
