Mildred Moses Summerlin, age 79, of Sophia died Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Clapps Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.
Mildred was a native of Burke County and was retired from Prestige Fabricators. Mildred was an excellent cook and enjoyed collecting knick-knacks and crocheting. She loved her flowers and her pets. Mildred adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the apple of her eye. She also volunteered at the YMCA as a swim instructor. Mildred is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Leroy Summerlin.
She is survived by two daughters: Sandy Rich of Sophia, and Carolyn Brown and husband Vernon of Seagrove; three sons: Danny Lee Summerlin of Asheboro, Robert Ernest Summerlin of Sophia, and Joel Bruce Summerlin of Randleman; sisters: Rosa Lee Day of Gamewell, Louise Branch of Oak Hill, Delpha Mae Martin of Hudson, and Emma Jean Howell of Lenoir; brothers: Jack Anson Dellinger and Paul Alvin Dellinger both of Lenoir; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, and other times at the home of Sandy Rich, 4315 Edgar Rd., Sophia. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 2:00pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 South Main Street, Randleman with Rev. Jimmy C. Shirlen officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
