Michael Todd McIntyre, age 46, of 3500 Scotland Ridge Ct, Winston Salem died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Troy, NC.
Todd was born September 6, 1964 in Richmond County, the son of George Marshall and Joyce Blake McIntyre. He was a 1982 graduate of West Montgomery High School and attended Sandhills Community College. He was an avid Duke fan and a very comical person. Todd retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service. During his tour of duty he was an instructor/advisor at Hospital Corps School, Great Lakes, Ill. He also recruited doctors, nurses and dentists. He was also a Marine medical corpsman. He was awarded several awards and medals. His tours of duty included Mt. Fuji, Japan; Operation Restore Hope/Continue Hope Somalia, Africa; Operation Restore Democracy Haiti and others. He was employed by Gentiva Home Healthcare as an RN. He had a B.S. Degree and was currently working on his Bachelor's Degree. He was preceded in death by his father, George M. McIntyre, who died June 28, 2011.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Blake McIntyre of Mt. Gilead.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:30-8:30 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home of his mother at 543 Valley View Church Road, Mt. Gilead, NC. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church, 5159 Pekin Road, Candor with Dale Whittington officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Blackwood Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
