Michael Garland Smith

Michael Garland Smith, age 34, of 919 Flint Hill Rd, Star, NC went to be with his Lord April 12, 2014. Mike was born on November 20, 1979 in Asheboro. He attended West Montgomery High School and was employed at Technimark of Asheboro. He was a NASCAR fan who loved the outdoors and fishing. He was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church of Troy. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Ray and Jerline Lucas, formerly of Asheboro and Star and paternal grandparents, Luther and Elizabeth Smith of Asheboro; uncle, Donald Ray Lucas of Pelzer, SC; aunt: Karen Lucas East of Star. Mike is survived by his wife, Heather Laughlin Smith of Asheboro; three sons: Mikey, Austin and Levi Smith of Asheboro; one daughter: Sarenity Smith of Ramseur and one step-daughter: Zoey Thomas of Asheboro; parents: Lori Lucas Smith of Star and Isaac Smith, also of Star; one brother: Luther Ray Smith and his fiancée, Jennifer Speer of Star; nephew Ray Smith of Star. The family will receive friends Tuesday, April 15, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home; other times at the home of his brother, Luther Smith, 901 Flint Hill Rd., Star. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4:00 PM at Macedonia United Methodist Church, 905 Abner Road, Troy with Rev. Bill Knapp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
