Michael Lynn McPherson

Michael Lynn McPherson, age 56, of Asheboro died Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Hopewell Friends Meeting, 2244 Hopewell Friends Road, Asheboro with Rev. Daniel Thames officiating. Burial will follow in the meeting cemetery. Mike was born on June 20, 1954 in Asheboro, NC to Samuel Joseph and Betty Lednum McPherson. He was a 1972 graduate of Southwestern Randolph High School and was a member of Hopewell Friends Meeting. He was formerly employed in lumber sales for 10 years, was the former owner of Mike's Body Shop for 8 years, and for the last 9 years was the owner of Mike's Gun Shop. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam McPherson and brother, Darrell McPherson. Mike was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving father, husband, and PePaw. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Strider McPherson; son, Eric McPherson and his wife Karla of Asheboro, NC; daughter, Amy McPherson of Raleigh, NC; mother, Betty L. McPherson of Asheboro, NC; sister, Shelia Sermon and her husband Jonathan of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter, Kylie McPherson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Memorials may be made to the Randolph Cancer Center, 373 N.
