Michael Warren Hunter, age 57, of Asheboro went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 10, 2015. Mike was born on April 11, 1957 in Rockingham, NC and moved to Asheboro at age 3.
Those he left behind include his wife, Ruby Lucas Hunter; two children, son Tyler of Charlotte and daughter Miranda of the home (a student at UNC-Wilmington). His parents, Ray and Nancy Hunter of Asheboro; one sister, Cathy Johnson (Alan) of High Point and many nieces and nephews.
Mike was a 1975 graduate of Asheboro High School. He served on the Randolph County YMCA executive board, was an active member of Asheboro Kiwanis Club and served on REMC Aware committee and governance committee. Mike was a member of the Asheboro Chamber of Commerce and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Mike loved his Sunday school class, the Good Samaritan class and his church family and pastor. Following in his mothers' footsteps Mike was elected and proudly served on the Asheboro City Council and was a current member. Mike was a former Asheboro Jaycees.
Mike made his living in the insurance business for over 30 years where he sold, serviced and trained others to sell insurance. Some people he recruited are still making a living in the insurance business today. He was the owner of Hunter Insurance and Brokerage and had previously worked for Woodmen of the World for 17 years of which he was still a member.
The family will receive friends Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. The funeral will be Sunday at 2:00 PM at Central United Methodist Church, 300 S. Main St., Asheboro with Dr. Terry L. Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
