God needed an awesome greens keeper so he called Michael Douglas Carter, age 42, of 830 Country Place Rd., Asheboro to join Him on Thursday, September 8, 2011.
Michael was born in Japan and grew up in Randleman. He graduated from Randleman High School in 1987 and later went to NC State University where he was the valedictorian of his 2003 Turf Management class. Michael loved spending time with his wife, Wendy, Baxter and making memories with family and friends. He enjoyed playing his guitar and had a passion for golf and sharing that love with his son Michael . He was employed with Forest Oaks Country Club, had been employed with Woodlake Country Club and affiliated with numerous golf clubs. He never met a stranger and always had smile and a laugh that was contagious.
He is survived by his wife: Wendy Cope Carter; one son: Michael Carter II of Asheboro, NC; mother: Toyomi Wishon of the home; father & stepmother: Ed & Juanita Carter of Tampa, FL; sister & her husband, Debbie & Phil Byers of Dallas, TX; step daughter & her husband, Jessica & Joseph Baird of Asheboro, NC; stepson, Justin White of of the home; stepson, Hunter Farlow of of the home; brother & his wife, Tom & Brenda Gordon of Rochester Hills, MI; grandmother, Thelma Royals of Archdale, NC; granddaughter, Kaydence Baird; niece, Jessi Glenn of Dallas, TX; niece, Shelby & Sabrina Gordon of Rochester Hills, MI; countless friends and his ever-loving friend and 4 legged son, Baxter Carter.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with The Rev. Dr. Gary Royals officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Paul Church Cemetery in Randleman.
