Melba Istra Clarke

Melba Istra Clarke, age 91, formerly of Asheboro, died Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at the Lutheran Home in Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Oaklawn Cemetery, 737 Albemarle Road, Asheboro with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Miss Clarke was born in Randolph County, NC on June 15, 1920 to Cammie Earl and Alice Farlow Clarke. She was retired from Acme-McCrary Corporation with over 30 years of service and was a member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro. In addition to her parents, Melba was preceded in death by her brothers Lowell and Kermit Clarke, her sister Reba Clarke, and her sister-in-law Josephine Clarke. She is survived by her nephew, David Clarke of Winston-Salem, NC; nieces, Susan Medley; Sharon Clarke of Baltimore, MD; great niece, Jessica Clarke Dodds and her husband Jared; great nephew, Jason Clarke; great great niece, Aubrey Dodds; and great great nephew, Korbin Dodds. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Clarke family.
