Henry Maxton Spencer, age 83, of 139 Oak Leaf Rd., Asheboro died Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at 4:00 PM at Back Creek Friends Meeting, 139 Back Creek Church Rd., Asheboro with Rev. Jon Reece officiating. Burial will follow in the meeting cemetery with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Spencer was a native of Randolph County, was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting. He was self employed with Spencer Texaco and Quality Mobile Foods. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leatha Mae Hall Spencer, his son, Rodney Spencer, and his brother, C.B. Spencer, Jr. Maxton loved farming and gospel singing and organized and sang with the gospel group "Revelations" and later sang with the "Jubilee Singers."
He is survived by his son, Allen "Al" Spencer and his wife Penny of Asheboro, NC and his granddaughter, Brittany Spencer of Asheboro, NC.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 6, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
