Maxine Brown Spencer, age 87, formerly of Lee Street in Asheboro passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Randolph Health & Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Spencer was born in Asheboro on July 8, 1928 to Ernest and Marinda Clapp Brown. Maxine was a member of First United Methodist Church where she was a member of the D.W. Holt Sunday School class for over 50 years. In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lee Spencer and son, Lee M. Kearns, III.
She is survived by her son, Charles Spencer and wife Min Hee of Korea; step daughters, Pam Thompson and husband John of Garden City, SC, Terri Jones of Columbia, SC; daughters-in-law, Barbara Kearns of Asheboro, Chin Suk Spencer of Clinton; granddaughters, Ashley Spencer of Charlotte and Anna Lee Spencer of Boone; sister, Hilda B. Morgan of Asheboro; brother, Donald R. Brown of Randleman; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 12:00-1:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. A memorial service will follow on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lynda Ferguson officiating Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
